GENERAL CAMP INFORMATION

What are the dates for the 2025 summer camp?

LVA Summer Camp is June 16th to July 25th with no camp on Friday, July 4th. Slingerland Summer Camp runs June 16th to July 11 only from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

What age groups is the camp designed for?

PreK – 5th grade, Slingerland 3rd – 8th Grade

What are the camp hours? Is there extended care available?

Daycare 8:00 – 9:00 AM
Camp/Slingerland Camp 9:00 – 12:00 PM
Lunch 12:00 – 1:00 PM
Summer Camp Cont. 1:00 – 3:00 PM
PE/Daycare 3:00 – 5:00 PM

What is the difference between LVA camp and Slingerland Camp?

LVA Summer Camp:
Our summer camp is designed for students from Pre-K to 5th grade who are looking for a fun, engaging summer filled with learning and exploration. We call it "disguised learning" because it balances education with enjoyment. This is not a “catch-up” program, but rather an enrichment opportunity that combines learning with fun activities.
Slingerland Program:
The Slingerland Program is an intensive learning experience tailored for students diagnosed with a Specific Learning Disability. It focuses on providing foundational literacy tools. Additionally, it offers review and enrichment for students who are continuing in the Slingerland program.

PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES

What types of activities are offered at the camp?

We offer a variety of activities each day! Students participate in reading and writing practice daily, along with hands-on STEAM activities. Physical activity is also a part of our daily routine. Once a week, students get to enjoy a cooking or food-tasting experience, and we also go on weekly field trips to explore and learn beyond the classroom.

Are there different camp themes or weekly focuses?

Our overall theme is investigation, with each week focusing on a different theme (such as Zoology Week, Multi-Cultural Week, Water Week, Decades Week, etc.) to spark curiosity and exploration.

Will my child be placed in a group based on their age or skill level?

During the summer, we generally group students based on their grade level. However, we also take individual student needs into account. If we determine that a student would benefit more from being in a different group, we are happy to make those adjustments. These decisions are made by the teacher and academic director based on student performance and what will best support their learning.
For the Slingerland program it is skill based.

Are there outdoor activities, and how is sun safety handled?

Yes! We have tons of outdoor activities! We prioritize sun and heat safety every time we go outside. Students are encouraged to wear sunblock daily and bring it with them to activities. We also ask that they bring a labeled water bottle each day and remind them to stay hydrated by drinking water frequently. For longer outdoor activities, we make sure there are shaded areas available to keep everyone cool and comfortable.

Do campers need to bring their own supplies for activities?

We generally provide all supplies for classroom activities. Occasionally, we may ask students to bring in recycled materials from home for a specific project, but most of the time, we ensure that everything they need is provided.

MEALS AND SNACKS

Is lunch provided, or do campers need to bring their own?

Lunch is not provided, we do host Pizza Fridays, where students can purchase pizza for lunch for $5.00 (2 slices of cheese pizza and a cookie).

Are snacks included, and what dietary accommodations are available?

Snacks are not included, please bring snacks and enough snacks for your growing child. We do have snacks available for purchase for $1.00/each.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT

How do I register my child for camp?

Please visit our website or visit us in person for a hard copy.

What is the cost of the camp? Are there any discounts or scholarships available?

Summer Camp is in 2-week sessions for $950 each or full 6-week session for $2,400. Slingerland Camp is 4-week session for $2,600. There is a $400 Non-Refundable deposit due with application and balance is due by June 2, 2025.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

What is the camper-to-staff ratio?

We like to keep our ration at 14:1, and 9:1 for (preK-Kinder)

What Are The Camp Dates and Hours?

Our summer camp runs from June 16th to July 25th, with no camp on Friday, July 4th in observance of U.S. Independence Day. Daily hours are structured for maximum fun and engagement:

Daycare: 8:00 - 9:00 AM
Camp/Slingerland Camp: 9:00 - 12:00 PM
Lunch: 12:00 - 1:00 PM
Summer Camp Continued: 1:00 - 3:00 PM
PE/Daycare: 3:00 - 5:00 PM

What Ages Are Accepted in the Camp?

Our summer camp is open to children from ages 5 to 12 years old. We cater to a wide range of backgrounds, so whether your child is a current LVA student or joining us for the first time, everyone is welcome!

Are kids separated by Age Groups?

Yes, campers are grouped by age to ensure age-appropriate activities and learning experiences. This approach allows children to engage meaningfully with peers while participating in tailored challenges and projects.

What Special Activities Can Campers Expect?

In addition to our themed curriculum focusing on mystery and investigation, we include exciting field trips and food tastings each week. These experiences enhance learning while providing hands-on opportunities for exploration and fun. Plus, don’t forget about Pizza Fridays, where campers can kick back and enjoy pizza with their newfound friends!
